We are excited to announce that the UID fourth graders who took the state science assessment last spring did very well. Seventy-four percent of our students met the standard on this assessment. UID students not only scored higher than the state average, they were the highest scoring group of elementary school students in our district. This was a rigorous science test that not only measured our students' general science knowledge but also tested our students' ability to learn from a science experiment they conducted during the assessment. We expect that UID students will continue to do well on future science assessments as a result of our teacher's renewed focus on inquiry science which started last fall.
